SRINAGAR, March 27: Chairman of Apni Party, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari addressed a workers’ convention in Shopian and discussed the various pillars that need to be held firm to form strong leadership across the region.
During the event, Bukhari pointed to an end to the political exploitation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have been used as a vote bank till date by various mainstream political parties.

“To pursue the goal of development in the region, we must treat the people of Kashmir as equal stakeholders and not just for the sake of gaining votes. We must ensure that their claims and their rights are respected with dignity and honesty throughout the region,” he said.
Insisting on safeguarding people’s interests, he called for immediate measures to seek equitable development and empowerment measures to enhance the dignity and empowerment of the masses in general, especially the youth.
Expressing his resentment over the lack of development in education, health and other sectors, Bukhari said the Apni party will endeavor to provide all basic facilities to the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have been used as a scapegoat to this day.
Considering job opportunities, he also called for measures to end corruption across the region and ensure transparency.
The one-day workers’ convention brought together various Apni party leaders, including Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, Vice President Zafar Hassan Manhas, SDC Vice President and Youth Wing General Secretary Irfan Manhas and others.
Speaking on this occasion, Ghulam Hassan Mir stressed the importance of strengthening the party at the grassroots level. He said members must champion a single political alternative if the party is to succeed. An individual’s need for direction and sense of direction are equally important in paving the way to collective success.
Zafar Hassan Manhas said the LG administration must provide the proper democratic values in the valley to ensure that the people of Jammu and Kashmir do not feel alienated from the system.
