To provide parents and students with a hands-on opportunity to learn about summer youth programs in Aurora, the City of Aurora is hosting the ninth Aurora Youth and Family Resource Fair on Thursday, April 21. It will be 6-8 p.m. at the Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora.
Parents and children can visit the booths of more than 40 community organizations, clubs and service providers during the fair to speak with organizers and get information about participating in the summer program.
Participants include: African American Men of Unity, Alive Aurora, APS Training Academy, A-Town Boxing, Aunt Martha’s, Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry, Aurora Police Youth Academy, Aurora Public Library, Aurora Regional Fire Museum, Aurora Township Youth Services, Aurora Youth Court, Ballet Folklorico Quetzalcoatl, Boy Scouts, Breaking Free, Calvary Youth, Central States SER, Cities in Schools Aurora, City of Aurora Youth Services, ComEd, Community Foundation of Fox River Valley, EA Counseling, East Aurora School District 131.
Also present are Fox Valley Park District, Fox Valley Special Recreation Association, Girl Scouts, LITE Leaders, Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, Miss Fiestas Patrias, Mutual Ground, Northern Illinois Food Bank, Paramount School of the Arts, Quad County Urban League, Simply Destinee , Talented Tenth Social Services, United Way SPARK, VNA Health Care, Wayside Cross Youth Ministries, and Waubonee Community College Latinx Resource Center.
There will be a DJ, free tacos provided by Primos Tacos, and raffle prizes including smart TVs, iPads, and Nintendo Switch bundles. The fair will also feature special performances by Simply Destinee, Ballet Folklorico Quetzalcoatl, Paramount School of the Arts and young artist Z Reign.
The ninth Youth and Family Resource Fair is free and open to the public.
