-Vow to ensure Obi’s defeat
– Pledge massive support to Sanwo-Olu, to the other candidates
A rally organized by the Obasa Youth Crusade (OYC) on Saturday saw thousands of Lagos residents declare their support for All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates, including Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.
While Tinubu is the APC presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Dr. Obasa is seeking re-election to the Lagos State Assembly, where he is the Speaker.
The youths further pledged to support the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Idiat Oluranti-Adebule, Senate Candidate for Lagos West, Wale Ahmed, House of Representatives Candidate for Agege and Abdulkareem Jubril, Candidate for Agege Constituency 2 in the ‘State. House of Assembly.
They have, however, vowed to ensure that Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and others are miserably defeated in Lagos.
Addressing the crowd at Agege Stadium, Lagos, President Obasa urged the youths to keep up the pace, adding that the rally was the first of its kind in the region.
Obasa added that the passion shown by the youths and those who attended the rally was proof enough that the people of Lagos remained satisfied with the APC and its progress in the state.
According to him, even though the rally was in his honor, the participants should know that the most important task was to work for the victory of Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu in the next elections.
“Today you are here to talk about Obasa, but we have a bigger project and that is Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We have Asiwaju as the high voltage wire from which we are all connected. I also promise that we we will never let you down.
“We provided jobs, thanks to our governor. In Agege today we have almost all paved roads.
We have a governor who is well connected, able to continue to perform his duties.
“In Tinubu, we have a chief who has the ingenuity to identify capable hands, regardless of tribe and ethnicity. This made Lagos a great state. It also shows that he will benefit the country as president.
“We shouldn’t allow someone who just manipulates the internet to deceive people. The APC is the only party that will take us to the promised land and the only presidential candidate who can do that is Bola Ahmed Tinubu while the gubernatorial candidate who can do that in Lagos is Sanwo-Olu,” said said Obasa asking the crowd to vote. for other CPA candidates as they have demonstrated experience and ability.
Afolabi Havingayo, Special Advisor to Governor Sanwo-Olu, commended the youths for their zeal to ensure continuity in Lagos.
He urged them not to let up on their love for Tinubu and the other party candidates.
Others who spoke at the rally included candidates Wale Ahmed and Abdulkareem, Abdulrazak Ajala of Odi Olowo LCDA who expressed hope that the APC would return as the party of choice, and Abdulganiyu Obasa, who claimed that Agege had witnessed a lot of development and progress as a result of the residents’ love for APC.
The highlights of the event were raffles with star winner Sunday Grace going home with ₦200,000 and entertainment by musicians including Adekunle Temitope, better known as the Small Doctor.
In his remarks, Gbenga Abiola, leader of the group, promised that the OYC would continue to work hard ahead of the elections.
