CCC youth leader closes doors on former Mwonzora ally

Citizens Coalition for Change youth leader Cecelia Chimbiri has expressed reservations about former MDC-T Harare provincial spokesperson Fungai Chiposi’s decision to walk down the aisle following his fallout with Douglas Mwonzora.

Chiposi announced that he was joining the CCC as an ordinary member after breaking ranks with Mwonzora.

“The by-elections of March 26, 2022 were a revelation for many, including me. The people have spoken and their voice has been unanimous.

“Furthermore, individual discussions with my team and the people of Kambuzuma revealed that people want a change of government and have confidence in the CCC led by lawyer Nelson Chamisa.

“So I decided to become an ordinary supporter of the Citizens Coalition for Change party led by lawyer Chamisa.

“I want to make it clear that I did not approach any of the CCC leaders before making this decision. I do not expect any position in the party. I am an ordinary party supporter and will engage my friends and family to come and support the citizen movement,” Chiposi said in a public statement shared on Twitter.

But Chimbiri said she was not comfortable with someone spreading lies on social media that she had faked a kidnapping.

“Whoever said we faked a kidnapping, whoever rewrote my ordeal with @JoanaMamombe @MarovaNetsai. whoever added salt to the wound It’s personal to me because I still have more wounds to be persecuted. I’m supposed to smile and welcome just because 🤷🏽,” Chimbiri said.

Chiposi was fired from the MDC-T after openly saying he was rejected by the people because of his association with Douglas Mwonzora whom he accused of dining with the ruling Zanu PF party.
