LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ) — A youth leadership program in Lexington provided professional haircuts to the community on Sunday afternoon, and it was all to raise money for a worthy cause.

Urban Impact of the Lexington Leadership Foundation has partnered with “Cosmetology for a Cause” for an inaugural Cut-A-Thon at Woodhill Community Center. Donations from the fundraiser help the organization purchase new instruments for the children it serves.

Organizers say these instruments will be used during summer camps and will help children find their passions.

“We want our kids to know they can lead now at their age, so we just want to invest in them and access their talents through the arts, athletics and education,” Michael Overstreet said. , communications director of the Lexington Leadership Foundation. “And a lot of that is accommodated here at our community center in Woodhill through after-school programs, sports leagues, arts camps, and all kinds of activities like that.”

The next event at the Woodhill Community Center is a produce market on May 19.
