Golf tournament for the benefit of the youth community center

The 10th Annual Ray Haskell Golf Tournament will be held Wednesday, August 11 at Waterville Country Club, 39 Country Club Road, Oakland.

Proceeds from the event, organized by the Alfond Youth & Community Center and Ray Haskell Ford, will help provide all children with the opportunity to attend summer camp at Camp Tracy and participate in the programs offered at the center.

The tournament is an 18-hole scramble with a shotgun start at 11 a.m.; registration begins at 10 a.m. Features include prizes for the longest ride for men and women, an air cannon challenge and putting contest, prizes and raffles, and silent auction items, including memorabilia from MLB and a Jotul fireplace.

Ray Haskell Ford, main co-sponsors Jo and Ray Boshold, Golden Pond Wealth Management and Valley Beverage contributed to the success of the event.

This year’s headliners include former Boston Red Sox stars Mike Torrez and Bill “Spaceman” Lee, as well as other former MLB players like Rick Miller and Steve Crawford.

A free baseball clinic organized by former Major League Baseball players and the Red Sox Foundation will be held from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on August 11 at Purnell Wrigley Field on Matthews Avenue in Waterville for children ages 8 to 12 years old. To RSVP, email Crista Lavenson at [email protected].

The public is invited to support the event by becoming a sponsor or registering to play. Cost is $400 per adult or $1,500 for a team of four, which includes an awards dinner with MLB players after the event at Waterville Country Club.
