In a day of great drama, members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha managed to reach the entrance of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwalfrom the Civil Lines residence and knocked on the main door, in what the Aam Aadmi party called an attempt on his life.
BJYM National Chairman and Lok Sabha MP Tejaswi Surya led the protesters, many of whom were captured by CCTV breaking the boom barrier and kicking and banging the main gate ahead of the paint red. DCP (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said a CCTV camera was also damaged. The CM was not at home at the time.
The BJYM had organized a protest march from the IP College to the CM residence on Wednesday against its remarks on zero-rating of The Kashmir Files in Delhi. At the assembly, the CM had said that while the BJP workers were promoting the film and the filmmakers had made millions, the suffering of the Kashmiri pundits had been exploited.

As the BJP has been protesting against Kejriwal for a week, this is the first time that Surya has joined the protest.
CCTV footage from the location shows a security official trying to stop the crowd but soon becoming outnumbered. Surya can be seen in the video, although they are not seen participating in the vandalism.
“Obviously it was a planned plot. BJP failed to stop Kejriwal ji and failed to defeat him, so they want to eliminate him. They are trying to kill him…L he attack was a planned plot to kill him, the country won’t tolerate it…It’s criminal, not political…After their defeat in Punjab, they are shaken. The BJP want him killed because they are not able to defeat it,” MP CM Manish Sisodia said.

Elaborating on the sequence of events, DCP Kalsi said: “Today at 11.30 a.m. a dharna was called by approximately 150-200 BJYM protesters outside the CM Residence at Link Road near IP College, against the remarks of the Delhi Chief Minister to Delhi Vidhan Sabha regarding the movie The Kashmir Files. Around 1 p.m., some of the protesters broke through two barricades and reached outside CM’s house where they created a row, shouted slogans. They carried a small paint box from which they threw paint at the door. In the imbroglio, a barrier arm is also found vandalized as well as a CCTV camera. The police team immediately evacuated them from the place and arrested about 70 people. Legal action is underway. »
CCTV cameras outside CM House were also damaged during a BJP protest in December 2020.
Sisodia also accused the police of facilitating the attack. “The police took these hooligans to the gate of the chief minister, the roadblock was broken, everything happened in the presence of the police,” he said.

In response, the PCD said that was not true. “Strong measures have been put in place against the demonstrators. However, some 15-20 protesters managed to reach Flag Staff Road and were immediately expelled.
At a press conference at the BJP headquarters later that day, Surya said, “We staged a protest outside Kejriwal’s residence against his remarks, which sought to downplay the pain of the Kashmiri Pandit community and hurt the feelings of the entire Hindu community… Our protests will continue until he issues an unconditional apology for this.
