Pasadena Tournament of Roses Youth Empowerment Forum enjoys another successful year

PASADENA, Calif. (April 23, 2022) – Today the Pasadena Tournament of Roses welcomed over 200 youth from Southern California for #ThisGen2022, a youth empowerment forum presented by East West Bank.

The half-day forum brought together a diverse group of inspirational speakers who gave attendees insight into how to break down barriers, overcome obstacles and follow their passions. Panels included professionals from leading companies and organizations in sports, entertainment and technology, including Marvel Studios, Walt Disney Television Animation Studios, the Los Angeles Dodgers and LA Rams.

“The more you realize you have a superpower and lean into it, the more things happen and the more authentic it is,” said #ThisGen panelist Jeff Stern, Apatow Productions.

The event featured three panels: “Hustle & Motivate”, “Victory Lap”, and “The Blueprint”. Speakers focused on achieving your dreams, achieving success doing what you love, building confidence and networking to help you set future goals and leverage your talent in the professional world.

“We are extremely proud to bring together students and professionals for such an inspiring event,” said Pasadena Tournament of Roses President Amy Wainscott. “These professionals come from a variety of industries and backgrounds which, after today, gave these young people fun and exciting ideas for their future.”

Participants were also able to discover career opportunities in science, technology and art, and how their talents can be used in the professional world. Participants came away feeling empowered, inspired and excited to tackle what’s next.

“My favorite moment was when Johnathan was talking to the kid who had open heart surgery. It was really moving. I also liked Anedra with her editing tips. It’s really a good guide on the steps I can take for my future,” Charlette Browning, #ThisGen participant, Ontario Christian High School.

#ThisGen2022 was a forum to empower young people and we are grateful to East West Bank for their continued partnership and role as presenting sponsor.

“East West Bank is proud to once again be a Presenting Sponsor of #ThisGen and to be part of our young people’s journey to achieve more in their professional lives,” said Janie Beaman, Senior Vice President, Senior Director, Communications and media, at East West Bank. “Our young people are our future leaders, innovators and change-makers, and we hope they will leave this forum hopeful and ready to take on whatever challenges come their way.”

#ThisGen2022 was organized by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, a volunteer-run nonprofit that produces the annual Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game.
