Renaissance Theater Announces 2022 Broadway Summer Camp for Kids

MANSFIELD—Registration is open for “Camp Broadway!” Renaissance Annual. summer theater program for students aged 8 to 13. Popular Summer Theater Camp sessions will be held as in-person classes, during the weeks of June 20-24; and from June 27 to June 30.

Broadway camp! options include the traditional three-hour morning camp (June 20-24), plus a new “Broadway Camp Showz!” camp (June 27-June 30). All “Broadway Camp!” the sessions are designed to be sensory; with tuition set at $105 for the June 20-24 camp or June 27-30 session. Full and partial scholarships are available for all Broadway Camp sessions.

The new “Broadway Camp Showz!”, which lasts all day! will allow participants to further explore the possibility of presenting a fully staged production in the style of Broadway Kids. The camp production, designed specifically for young actors, will use a script and score adapted from a popular Broadway musical. To participate in Broadway Camp Showz!, students must have previously completed a session of a two or three hour Broadway Camp, or a Broadway Camp, Too!

Broadway Renaissance Camp! The programs offer students of all levels the freedom to explore the world of musical theater and the elements of performance through acting, improvisation and dramatic acting, as well as directing and singing. The 4 and 5 day camp sessions allow each child to benefit from the opportunity to learn, grow and perform in an all-inclusive experience. Each camp session ends with a special performance for parents, friends and other guests.

Renaissance Broadway Camp! is coordinated and directed by Renaissance artist-teacher Dauphne Maloney, well known for her work with youth theater in the North Central Ohio region. Ms. Maloney is also Founder and Director of Mansfield Youth Theater (MY Theater), former Resident Director of Renaissance Youth Opera Theater (RYOT), and Director of Youth Theater at Ohio State University-Mansfield. She has directed and costumed over 200 productions and was Director of Youth Theater at the Mansfield Playhouse for 20 years. Participating students will work directly with Maloney, as well as with seasoned young theater actors.
