Riverside Park is scheduled to close Monday, November 21 for the Texas Youth Hunting Program

The deer and hog hunt is organized by Victoria Parks and Recreation, but some community members object.

VICTORIA, Texas – Riverside Park will close at 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21 and will remain closed all day Nov. 22 during the Texas Youth Hunting Program -TYHP deer and hog hunt organized by Victoria Parks and Recreation and the Texas Wildlife Association.

The park will reopen at 7 a.m. on November 23.

According to a Facebook post posted by the City of Victoria, park boundaries will be clearly marked with signs, barricades and paperwork and young participants will be supervised at all times to ensure safety.

Some community members believe this is an excellent program for novice hunters and the welfare of the park population to keep deer and hog populations at appropriate and healthy levels.

This map shows the area of ​​Riverside Park that will be closed during a youth hunt on November 21-22. Barricades, warning signs and red warning tape will be placed along the border.

However, some members of the community oppose this for various reasons, citing that it is dangerous for this to happen in the city park or that they disagree with the fact that deer in Riverside Park be killed.
